The most common misunderstanding about setting up files for printing on the LightJet is the issue of optimum file size for any specific print size. The general notion in digital printing is to give a printer a file which is set up at 300 dpi at final print size. While this procedure is a good rule of thumb, it is certainly not applicable in all cases. The practice of resampling or “rezzing up” a file in Photoshop to achieve this target is a bad idea in most cases. Even the use of programs like Genuine Fractals may not be a good idea. After years of testing and “real world” experience, we can say unequivically that the RIP interpolation on the LightJet is superior to any other alternative. In other words, getting the best scan or image capture is the key and let the LightJet do the rest of the work. Therefore, we recommend NEVER resampling an image without our consultation. Also note that as prints get larger, the LightJet needs less input resolution. The target specs listed below are offered for optimum results.
| Desired Print Size | Target File Size |

| 12 × 18 | 24 - 40 MB |
| 16 × 24 | 45 - 70 MB |
| 20 × 24 | 50 - 90 MB |
| 20 × 30 | 60 - 100 MB |
| 30 × 40 | 62 - 140 MB |
